It is currently the start of December, and feeling pretty cold and wintry.  Thus I thought it would be nice to go back to earlier this year and visit Jon and Imogen’s late summer wedding.  I had lots of fun when I met this bride and groom back in the spring and when we went for their pre-wedding shoot in Trent Park, Cockfosters (sandwiched between the North London boroughs of Enfield and Barnet), and knew their wedding day was going to be much the same – lots of laughter and good times.

This was also a first for me – I’ve never photographed a wedding ceremony at the end of my road – however, with the marriage being held in the lovely St Mary Magdalene’s I was able to walk from home and then scuttle as quickly as my little legs would allow back to pick up my car afterwards to drive to the reception venue of Capel Manor.  I was particularly looking forward to this – Enfield is lucky in that it has several lovely large gardens open to the public (Forty Hall and Myddelton House being the other two) and so I had visited Capel Manor several times before and knew not only was it going to be a lovely wedding reception, but that I’d be able to use the grounds to capture some beautiful photographs of this lovely couple and their garden party themed affair.

I hope you enjoy this taste of late summer.  In the mean time, if you looking for a wedding photographer, and would like to know more about me, and the service I offer I’d love to hear from you and you can get in touch via the Contact form or at andrew@photographyonthehill.co.uk. Note: This is the second part of Andy and Emma’s wedding photograph post, the first part can be found here.

After their marriage at St Mary’s Church Buttsbury, Essex our intrepid bride and groom (they had to be intrepid on a lovely crisp October day to ride in an opentop trap)  enjoyed a horse and trap journey back to their reception venue – the stunning 16th century Ingatestone Hall. I’ve been lucky enough to shoot a beautiful styled shoot inside this lovely Essex wedding venue in the past, so knew what to expect, how to handle the often tricky lighting (those gorgeous oak panels just suck up light) and the best places to shoot. Decked out in style by the bride and groom – who extended their lavender theme with a vintage twist, the hall and dining room looked stunning  – massive attention to detail in this wedding made sure the important things were taken care of.  Once all the wedding guests had arrived, drinks, dinner, dancing and more smiles were the order of the day for the reception.  Music courtesy of the The Milkshakers. Second shooting courtesy of the ever trusty Konrad (konfraldotcom).

Early evening saw me capturing the guests arrival prior to the groom’s, then the bride’s entrance.  I loved the energy of this evening – it was a great way to start the wedding celebrations for this lovely couple and truly inspiring to capture the colours and vibrancy of the guests clothing and the location – I hope you’ll agree having seen the photos I’m about to share.

Ingatestone Hall Wedding Photographer: Andy & Emma’s Epic Wedding Part 1 (St Mary’s Church, Buttsbury)

A slightly chillier affair than when I last met them (at Hitchin Lavender for their e-shoot), saw the arrival of Andy and Emma’s wedding day in October. I was joined by my friend Konrad Dziedzic (Konfraldotcom) who provided second shooting services, covering the groom’s preparations as well as meeting the bride and her carriage at Ingatestone Hall, Essex prior to the ceremony. Thanks Konrad!

My day started early (pre-9am) with the bridal preparations at the bride’s parents house in Brentwood before I joined the groom and wedding guests at St Mary’s Church, Buttsbury (just outside Brentwood/Billericay).  So much thought had gone into this wedding – from the vintage theme and countryside style flowers in the church, to getting the important details right. During my shooting, I was struck by several things – most of all, just how much this couple love each other (that was apparent to everyone present), but also how much everyone loves them back. It’s not hard to see why -Andy and Emma are just really nice, down to earth, fun and fantastic to be around – all traits which their friends and family shared, making this a wedding with lots of smiles and a very happy feeling.  I hope you enjoy the selection of images which I think convey all of the things I’ve described above.

First of all we started at the bride’s sisters house (aka the wedding factory) for some bridal preparation shots, before moving on to meet Alex at the church in Port Talbot for the marriage.  Following a drive through the Gower peninsula, the wedding breakfast and reception took place at the Penrice Castle Estate.

Hertfordshire Wedding Photography: Hitchin Lavender wedding planning

Fast forward nearly a year and we found ourselves meeting one very sunny afternoon at Hitchin Lavender Farm for their pre-wedding photography stint.  When I photographed their Ingatestone Hall wedding a few weeks ago, I was delighted to see the product of our labours (an album) being shown off and enjoyed the guests.  We thought it would be nice to share with the rest of the world.

E-shoots are always a great time to capture some nice portraits of a couple, as well as a chance to get to know them more (and of course for them to get to know me).  I really feel having a good rapport with your couples builds a great relationship prior to the wedding and aids the capture of some lovely images on the day – past experience has also taught me that it helps relax often nervous brides or grooms having a friendly face around before the ceremony, although a repetition of cutting a best mans hair will hopefully not be on the cards too soon (if ever).  I know I am looking forward to photographing their church wedding in Enfield and reception at Capel Manor, later this year.
