Shoots can take place either in your home or outside where you and your family love being and can have some fun - I believe this creates a strong connection between you and the images, making them more personal, as well as being somewhere where you and your family feel comfortable.

Newborn shoots take place at your home - in your comfortable surroundings, where you can relax with your baby in a cosy environment.

I like to take a mixture of candid shots, e.g. of your children playing unfettered by mum and dad, as well as some more posed portraits - nothing too stiff and formal though, this is all about fun!  If you have an theme or idea for a shoot then I am always interested to discuss these.

I always schedule a minimum of 1 hour for your shoot, but recommend allowing longer.  What I do promise is that I never take on more than one shoot per day - so I will never be in a rush to be somewhere else and can give you or your family my undivided attention.

I primarily shoot on location, preferring to capture portraits in natural locations using the environment and surroundings to create beautiful pieces of art. However, if your preference is for a high key, white background style of image then for smaller family groups I have a portable background and lights and studio portraits are also possible for larger groups (an extra charge to cover studio hire applies for the latter) . Please contact me for further details.

After the shoot

Viewing your pictures

During a shoot I may take several hundred images. Once the shoot is over, I will carefully select the best shots from the shoot. This selection will be lovingly retouched by myself before I present you with around 50 images to view.

One to two weeks after the shoot your pictures will be ready to view.  I will visit you at home and show you your images in person*. Why in person? I am always proud of my work and I enjoy seeing my clients' reactions when they see their images for the first time.  It also gives you opportunity to discuss the images and framing options (I'll even bring some framed samples from my walls at home for you to examine). After this session I can prepare a password protected gallery should you wish to show your photos to relatives and make them available for purchase.

I normally schedule viewings for the evening once your children are in bed to remove any distractions. Once the viewing is over, we can discuss any purchases you may wish to make, no pressure or hard sell from me.

* I also make a mean Lemon Drizzle Cake and have been known to arrive at a clients accompanied by one or two slices to share over a cup of tea.
