Note: This is the second part of Andy and Emma’s wedding photograph post, the first part can be found here.

After their marriage at St Mary’s Church Buttsbury, Essex our intrepid bride and groom (they had to be intrepid on a lovely crisp October day to ride in an opentop trap)  enjoyed a horse and trap journey back to their reception venue – the stunning 16th century Ingatestone Hall. I’ve been lucky enough to shoot a beautiful styled shoot inside this lovely Essex wedding venue in the past, so knew what to expect, how to handle the often tricky lighting (those gorgeous oak panels just suck up light) and the best places to shoot. Decked out in style by the bride and groom – who extended their lavender theme with a vintage twist, the hall and dining room looked stunning  – massive attention to detail in this wedding made sure the important things were taken care of.  Once all the wedding guests had arrived, drinks, dinner, dancing and more smiles were the order of the day for the reception.  Music courtesy of the The Milkshakers. Second shooting courtesy of the ever trusty Konrad (konfraldotcom).

Penrice Castle Estate Wedding Photographer: Kirstie and Alex get married

I shot Kirstie and Alex’s engagement photos in London’s Battersea Park earlier this year and back in June I was lucky enough to return to the Penrice Castle Estate in the Gower to photograph their wedding.  Penrice is a lovely venue and photographically very stimulating – having been photographer there last summer for another wedding, I knew I was in for a fantatstic day (as were our bride and groom).

First of all we started at the bride’s sisters house (aka the wedding factory) for some bridal preparation shots, before moving on to meet Alex at the church in Port Talbot for the marriage.  Following a drive through the Gower peninsula, the wedding breakfast and reception took place at the Penrice Castle Estate.

Camden Wedding Photographer: London engagement shoot

We are going to travel back to the summer (August in fact) when I photographed Ben and Gule’s enagagement shoot prior to their Asian wedding in Essex in September (and boy was that fun – so looking forward to blogging the full 2 days soon).   Being pretty cool kids (well with the exception of me) we decided a London town e-shoot was in order and chose the newly developed Kings Cross area and Camden Town for our locations.

A hot and sunny July day saw me driving down to Surrey to meet some fellow wedding photographers who are also listed on the UK Wedding Photographer website at Mayfield Lavender for a day of shooting bridal portraits using some very talented models.

Anyway, I digress, which wasn’t the purpose of this post – I wanted to share with you some of the images I shot. Firstly, we have the lovely Claire.

Despite that demure start, Claire soon had lots of fun running around, twirling the skirts of the fantastic dress she was modelling.

Time for a couple of B&W photographs- loosing the colour of the field really highlights the textures of the lavender and the wedding dress.

We were fortunate in being joined by Scott as our sole ‘groom’ for the day – whilst bridal makeup was adjusted and hair arranged, I borrowed him for some quick portraits – grooms are just as important as brides and they often get overlooked in the hustle and bustle of an actual wedding.   This was also a slightly nostalgic shoot for me as I had lent Scott the Harris Tweed suit that I used to wear at school whilst doing my A-Levels  – sadly it doesnt fit me anymore (I must have had a late growth spurt!) but I think it looked really good on him and suited the slightly vintage feel of the following photographs.

Hair and makeup adjusted, we were joined by another bridal model, Ellie for a few more shots.

I have to say a big thanks to our makeup team for the day who were the extremely talented Lakbinder & Karen – thank you both for your behind the scenes work to make our models look stunning.

This was a pretty successful day, both photographically and also meeting and networking with like minded souls.  I always enjoy networking with other wedding photographers – we chat, share stories, swap ideas, but days like this are especially important for us. Why? Shooting with other photographers and working on concepts and images allows us to build a rapport and trust which can be beneficial should we ever need to ask that individual to second shoot with us or to even step into our shoes if (God forbid) we were unable to shoot a couples big day due to serious illness or a dire emergency  (knowing that in that dire  situation you can say to a couple that you have a replacement that will fulfill their expectations is a little consolation and it is always good to be prepared).  I always like to make sure my wedding couples know that I have thought of contingency plan should the worst happen.

The marquee was decorated by the bride & groom, whilst food and the wedding cake were supplied by Limeberry Catering.

Whilst the reception was in full swing, and guests were being entertained with some music, I took the opportunity to take the bride and groom away for a portrait session –  something I do with all my couples – just a quick 15-20 minutes alone, uninterrupted by guests to get some beautiful portraits for their wedding album.  The metal doors of a barn in the adjoining farmyard provided the backdrop for some of these, as well as the structure providing some much needed relief from the bright sunshine we were blessed with.

Then it was back to join the party, assemble a few relaxed group shots we had elected to save for the reception and capture lots of candid photographs of people enjoying themselves, before the bride and groom joined everyone for their wedding breakfast.

I have to confess I really enjoyed shooting Dan and Lucy’s wedding – they are a delightfully easy going and relaxed couple, with a great group of family and friends – it was an absolute pleasure to work with them on recording their wedding day.

You may remember Dan and Lucy from their engagement photographs at Hylands House, Chelmsford earlier this year. I have been itching to post the full set of images from Lucy and Dan’s wedding at All Saints church, Stock, Essex and party at Great Prestons for several weeks. However, an extended honeymoon for this lovely couple delayed me doing so – after-all the bride and groom have the privilege of seeing the images first.   So we go back in time slightly to early June. A bright summers day saw me capturing the bridal preparations, wedding dress and a gorgeous pair of Kurt Geiger shoes.

This was followed by a short drive through the lanes of Essex to Stock and the lovely All Saints Church to meet our groom and the rest of the wedding party awaiting the arrival of the bride.

The cool interior of the church provided some relief from the surprisingly hot sun and the light filtering through the windows was perfect for capturing some beautiful black and white photographs of the wedding ceremony.

I recently had opportunity to capture some lovely bridal portraits during a test shoot at Ingatestone Hall, Essex.  In the first series, I think that what makes these images special is that our model, Deona is wearing her own wedding dress – she commented how much she enjoyed wearing it again. Portraits such as this can often be overlooked during the hustle and bustle of a wedding day. These portraits show just what can be achieved with just short period of time – just 10 or 15 minutes on your wedding day is enough to capture some beautiful bridal photographs before rejoining your guests, knowing you have captured some images that will last a lifetime.

For our second series, we moved outside with Jenny – again in her own beautiful dress with it’s flowing skirt to capture some figure in the landscape shots using the surroundings of our venue for the day.
